Outdoor Explorers
ainbow Playgroup
At Rainbow Pre-School we are privileged to be able to use a small wooded area in the grounds of the Dawnay School. The children look forward to this weekly trip to the woods with eager anticipation.
In this outdoor area the children are free to explore, experiment and make believe in a natural environment that is safe.
Play in the woods is open-ended with the emphasis being on allowing the children the freedom to play outdoors and discover their own learning with the support and encouragement of an adult.
We do plan activities and these are led by the children’s interests and evolve to best suit the children’s learning at the time. The children never tire of the endless uses for a stick or a log, building dens, digging holes, making mud pies and bug hunting. Each activity is enjoyed and changes happen naturally according to the season. We find our ‘Outdoor Explorer’ time to be a fantastic addition to the children’s learning experience.
